How PetRoutePlanner works

We turn the route, pet and trip details you provide into a practical plan. Here is exactly what happens before payment, how we decide between an instant checklist and human review, and what stays available after delivery.

  1. Step 1

    Start with the map

Choose your departure and destination on the route map. The current catalogue includes 41 selectable countries and 1,640 supported country-to-country directions, so the guidance starts with the journey you are actually making.

    • The route form locks the selected direction, so your request cannot drift into a different journey.
    • Travel-mode choices are limited to the options that make sense for the selected country pair.
    • A supported direction or travel mode does not prove that a current operator, service, fare or pet place is available.

  2. Step 2

Add the trip and pet details that matter

The form gathers the information needed to match document, timing and transport guidance to the submitted journey rather than guessing from a destination alone.

    • Choose one-way or return travel, dates, travel mode and traveller residence.
    • Add one pet type per request, with each pet’s name, optional birth month and year, breed and weight. Tell us whether any other pets are travelling so we can derive the combined group size. A request can cover up to five pets of one type; different pet types need separate requests and payments.
    • Answer route-specific questions such as UK arrival timing, the first EU entry and, for dogs entering the USA, recent rabies-risk travel history when relevant.
    • Private dog and cat journeys with your own pets can match an instant plan. Transfers, rehoming, other species, groups above the relevant pet limit, uncertain USA dog travel history and requests with additional notes are reviewed by a person instead.
  3. Step 3

    See the scope before checkout

Your private preview confirms the route, pet and trip information, what the paid plan will include and the delivery promise. A one-way plan is £20.00; a return plan is £30.00.

    • You can return to edit or discard an unpaid preview before checkout.
    • If your departure is within 30 days, the preview warns that waiting periods may affect your date without claiming whether your pet is legally ready.
    • Checkout is handled by Stripe. There is no subscription or recurring payment.
    • Before payment, you acknowledge the terms, privacy and refund information, and give consent for the digital service to begin immediately.

  4. Step 4

    Instant plans for checked routes

An instant checklist is available only when your answers match one of our checked plans and all the information supporting it is current. Otherwise, a person prepares your plan; the promised delivery time is currently within 24 hours.

    • Our ready-to-send plans cover private dog and cat journeys across the supported route catalogue.
    • Each checklist item is backed by checked government, authority or travel-company information where available.
    • If any information we rely on is out of date or unverified, a person prepares the plan instead.
  5. Step 5

    Work through a practical checklist

After payment, your private trip page records payment confirmation and delivery activity. When the plan is sent, it presents the route-specific checklist, timing prompts, cited official sources and review dates used for that version of your plan.

    • Mark checklist sections complete as you prepare; this progress stays on your private trip page.
    • You do not need to create an account. We email your private trip-page link and let you know when your plan is ready.
    • Travel suggestions may help you investigate options, but they are not live availability, fare, pet-space or booking guarantees.
    • We store operational travel details, pet details, your plan, checklist progress and messages for six months (180 days) after payment. You can revoke portal access sooner and ask for earlier permanent removal. We may keep a separate minimal transaction, accounting, refund and accepted-contract record for six years where necessary; it does not contain route, journey, pet, preference, message, checklist or plan data and cannot restore the portal.
    • Always confirm current requirements and carrier conditions before booking and travelling.
  6. Step 6

    Keep clarifications with the plan

Once your paid request is available in the portal, you can send a clarification message. The thread stays alongside your route plan, and an admin reply reopens the form for your next question.

    • This keeps the conversation tied to the exact journey and plan version we are discussing.
    • It is a route-planning support channel, not a replacement for veterinary, legal, border-control or carrier decisions.

How we keep the guidance grounded

Pet travel rules can change, so automation is deliberately narrow. We connect route guidance to the sources that support it, review those sources, and stop automatic fulfilment when a source is no longer current enough for the published template.

What the service does not do

  • It does not sell or reserve travel, pet places, documents, veterinary treatment or border clearance.
  • It does not accept animal sales, breeding or other commercial animal movements.
  • It does not replace a vet, the relevant authority or the carrier’s own current rules and decisions.
